What Is Google EDLA on an Interactive Display, and Does It Matter?

By Trianze Tech Team

Wondering whether your interactive panels need Google EDLA? Book a site survey or WhatsApp our AV consultants and we will recommend the right panel for your space.

Google EDLA (Enterprise Device Licensing Agreement) is Google's certification for business devices such as interactive displays. An EDLA certified panel runs an Android system approved by Google, so it can install apps from Google Play and use Google services directly on the board. A panel that simply "runs Android" without EDLA is limited to the apps its maker provides. If your school or office uses Google Workspace, choose an EDLA certified panel.

EDLA Certified Panels in Our Range

BenQ Board Pro RP05 RP7505 Android 15 (Google EDLA), 50 touch points, 450 nits, USB-C 100 W
Clevertouch Pro Series 3 Android 14, Google EDLA certified, 16 GB RAM, 128 GB storage, OPS slot

OneScreen T7 T7 series interactive panel with EDLA certification

What EDLA Changes in Practice

  • Apps: install apps from Google Play on the panel rather than only the maker's preloaded apps.
  • Google services: sign in to Google accounts and use Google tools on the board.
  • Updates: Google certification applies to a specific Android version, so check the version listed on each model.

When EDLA Matters Less

If your organisation works mainly in Microsoft 365 or specialist Windows software, EDLA is a nice extra rather than a must. Many such rooms add a Windows OPS PC; see our Android vs OPS PC guide. Samsung Flip and other panels on their own operating systems, such as Tizen, are a different approach and can suit offices that mainly cast from laptops.

How to Check a Panel

  • Look for "Google EDLA" or "EDLA certified" in the specifications, not just an Android version number.
  • Confirm the Android version and how long updates are offered.
  • Check the other features you need: touch points, size, OPS slot and built-in camera. Our interactive panel brands guide compares them.

Frequently asked questions

What does Google EDLA mean on an interactive display?

EDLA stands for Enterprise Device Licensing Agreement. An EDLA certified interactive display runs an Android system approved by Google, so it can use Google Play and Google apps on the panel itself.

Which interactive panels in your range are Google EDLA certified?

Examples include the BenQ Board Pro RP05 (Android 15), the Clevertouch Pro Series 3 (Android 14), the ViewSonic IFP8652-2ED (Android 13) and the OneScreen T7 series. Check the listing of the exact model you choose.

Why does EDLA matter for schools and offices?

Without EDLA, an Android panel can only use the apps its maker preloads or offers in its own store. With EDLA, users can install apps from Google Play and use Google services on the board, which matters for schools and teams that work in Google Workspace.

Do I need EDLA if we use Microsoft 365?

It is still useful for access to apps, but it matters less. Organisations built on Microsoft 365 often add a Windows OPS PC to the panel or use screen sharing from laptops instead.

Is EDLA the same as having Android?

No. Many panels run Android without Google certification. EDLA is the certification that adds approved Google services, so look for EDLA in the listing rather than just the Android version.
