Best Video Bar by Room Size: Huddle, Small, Medium and Large Rooms

By Trianze Tech Team

Not sure which video bar fits your room? Book a site survey or WhatsApp our AV consultants and we will recommend the right video bar for your room.

Pick a video bar by the size of the room and the distance to the farthest seat. As a guide from the products we supply: huddle rooms for 2 to 4 people suit a compact bar such as the Logitech Rally Bar Huddle; small rooms up to about 4.5 x 3 metres suit the Poly Studio X32 (rated for up to 15 x 10 feet); medium rooms up to about 6 x 4.5 metres suit the Poly Studio X52 (up to 20 x 15 feet); and large rooms up to about 8.5 x 4.5 metres suit the Poly Studio X72 (up to 28 x 15 feet). Rooms bigger than that need extra microphones or a separate camera.

Huddle Rooms (2 to 4 People)

A huddle room has one short table and a single display, so the bar sits on top of or under the screen and sees everyone without zooming far. The Logitech Rally Bar Huddle has a 4K camera with a 120 degree field of view and a six microphone array, and the Poly Studio R30 has a 4K camera with a 120 degree view and connects to a laptop over USB-C. The Logitech MeetUp 2 lists a 120 degree diagonal view and six microphones. A wide field of view matters more than zoom here, because people sit close to the screen.

Small Rooms (4 to 6 People)

Small rooms usually have a table for four to six and a 55 to 65 inch display. The Poly Studio X32 is rated for rooms up to 15 x 10 feet, with a 4K 20MP camera, a 120 degree horizontal view and a beamforming microphone array with about 4.5 metres of pickup, and it supports two displays. The Yealink MeetingBar A40 has two 48MP cameras, an eight microphone array with 6 metres of pickup and runs Teams Rooms or Zoom Rooms on Android 13.

Medium Rooms (6 to 10 People)

In a medium room the farthest seat is often 5 to 6 metres from the screen, so microphone reach becomes the deciding factor. The Poly Studio X52 is rated for rooms up to 20 x 15 feet with about 6.09 metres of pickup, and is certified for Microsoft Teams, Zoom and Google Meet. The Bose Videobar VB1 lists a recommended room size of up to 6 x 6 metres and uses six beam-steering microphones over a single USB cable. The MAXHUB XBar U50 has a 12 microphone array with 8 metres of pickup and supports two expansion microphones.

Large Rooms (10 to 16 People)

Large rooms need a camera that can frame people far from the screen and microphones that reach the end of the table. The Poly Studio X72 has dual 4K cameras (70 and 120 degree views) and is rated for rooms up to 28 x 15 feet with about 7.6 metres of pickup. The Yealink MeetingBar A50 has a triple 50MP camera, a 16 microphone array with 10 metres of pickup and is listed for 7 to 12 people. The MAXHUB XBar W70 runs Windows Microsoft Teams Rooms with a 200MP quad camera and 10 metres of pickup, and the Logitech Rally Bar adds a motorized 4K PTZ camera with 15x HD zoom and takes up to four Rally Mic Pods.

Boardrooms and Long Tables

When the table is longer than a bar can cover, split the job: a camera system such as the Poly Studio E70 or the Yealink SmartVision 80 for video, and ceiling microphones or table microphones for audio. The Logitech Rally Plus is a bar-based option that expands to seven mic pods. Read our video conferencing room cost factors guide to see how this changes the project.

Mistakes to Avoid

  • Sizing by headcount alone: a long, narrow room needs more microphone reach than a square room with the same number of seats.
  • Ignoring the farthest seat: check the listed pickup distance against the distance from the bar to the last chair.
  • Skipping acoustics: glass walls and hard floors cause echo that no bar fully removes.
  • Wrong platform: confirm the bar is certified for Teams, Zoom or Google Meet, whichever your company uses.

Video Conferencing Rooms in Dubai and Abu Dhabi

Trianze Tech measures each room, checks the furthest seat, the display size and the platform, then recommends the bar, mounting and accessories and tests every seat before handover. Frequently asked questions

What size video bar do I need for my meeting room?

Match the bar to the room and the farthest seat. For a huddle room of 2 to 4 people, a compact bar such as the Logitech Rally Bar Huddle or Poly Studio R30 is enough. For a small room up to about 4.5 x 3 metres, the Poly Studio X32 is rated for up to 15 x 10 feet. For a medium room up to about 6 x 4.5 metres, the Poly Studio X52 is rated for up to 20 x 15 feet. For a large room up to about 8.5 x 4.5 metres, the Poly Studio X72 is rated for up to 28 x 15 feet.

Can one video bar cover a large boardroom?

Up to a point. Bars such as the Poly Studio X72, Yealink MeetingBar A50 and MAXHUB XBar W70 cover large rooms on their own, with microphone pickup of about 7.6 to 10 metres. Beyond that, or for a long boardroom table, add extension microphones or ceiling microphones and consider a separate PTZ camera so people at the far end are heard and seen clearly.

What is the difference between a USB video bar and an appliance video bar?

A USB video bar, such as the Poly Studio USB, Bose Videobar VB1 or MAXHUB XBar U50, connects to a laptop or room PC, which runs Teams, Zoom or any other app. An appliance bar, such as the Poly Studio X series or Yealink MeetingBar A series, has its own computer and runs Microsoft Teams Rooms or Zoom Rooms directly, so the room works without a PC.

Which video bars work with Microsoft Teams and Zoom?

Most current bars in our range are certified for both. For example, the Poly Studio X32 and X72 are listed as Microsoft Teams and Zoom certified, the Poly Studio X52 adds Google Meet, and the Yealink MeetingBar A40 and A50 are certified for Microsoft Teams Rooms and Zoom Rooms. Always check the certification for the platform your company uses before ordering.

How far can a video bar microphone pick up voices?

It depends on the model. In our range, listed pickup distances include about 4.5 metres for the Poly Studio X32, about 6 metres for the Poly Studio X52 and Yealink MeetingBar A40, about 7.6 metres for the Poly Studio X72, 8 metres for the MAXHUB XBar U50 and 10 metres for the Yealink MeetingBar A50 and MAXHUB XBar W70.
