The Shure A89LW-KIT includes a Rycote Lyre suspension mount, a rigid windshield basket and a synthetic fur windjammer, all sized specifically for the VP89L long shotgun microphone.
With the windshield basket and windjammer fitted together, the A89LW-KIT provides up to 38 dB of wind noise attenuation for the VP89L, making it suitable for outdoor ENG, documentary and film production audio.
The Rycote Lyre suspension in the A89LW-KIT cradles the VP89L on elastic bands rather than a rigid clip, mechanically isolating the microphone from boom-pole handling and cable-borne noise by up to 25 dB.
Yes. Shure sells the A89LW-JMR as a standalone replacement windjammer for the VP89L, so you can refresh a worn fur cover without replacing the full A89LW-KIT suspension and basket assembly.
No. The A89LW-KIT's suspension and basket are sized for the longer VP89L capsule. Shure offers separate correctly sized kits, the A89SW-KIT for VP89S/VP82 and the A89MW-KIT for VP89M.
