The Shure A89LW-JMR is a replacement synthetic fur windjammer developed jointly by Shure and Rycote for the VP89L long shotgun microphone. It fits over the existing windshield basket to reduce wind noise during outdoor recording and ENG work.
No. The Shure A89LW-JMR is sized specifically for the VP89L long shotgun microphone's windshield basket. Shure sells separate, correctly sized windjammers (A89SW-JMR for VP89S/VP82, A89MW-JMR for VP89M) for the shorter capsules in the VP89 family.
The A89LW-JMR uses a drawstring and toggle closure that cinches securely around the base of the VP89L's windshield basket, keeping the fur cover in place during handheld or boom-pole use.
The A89LW-JMR is the windjammer (furry wind cover) only, sold as a replacement part. It is designed to be used together with the VP89L's existing Rycote windshield basket, not as a standalone kit.
Synthetic fur windjammers wear down and mat over time with regular outdoor use, reducing their wind noise attenuation. The Shure A89LW-JMR lets you refresh worn or damaged fur covers without replacing the entire VP89L windshield kit.
